Emergency Dental Treatment
Any dental problem that requires immediate treatment in order to save a tooth, stop ongoing tissue bleeding or alleviate severe pain is considered a dental emergency. A severe infection or abscess in the mouth can be life-threatening and should be dealt with immediately.
Dentists are equipped with smart state-of-art-technologies to treat their patients in emergencies. Synthetic materials can prove as real as original. Advancement in techniques to restore teeth without paining can benefit in dental emergencies.
Below are some tips in an emergency dental treatment:
- Toothaches: This a common situation in which we should properly rinse our mouth with warm water or if mouth is swollen try cold water to compress it.
- Knocked Out Tooth: Many knocked out tooth can be saved and returned to their socket within a couple of 50-60 minutes. Thus, it is advisable to go to a dentist quickly in such situations.
- Broken Teeth: Rinse our mouth thoroughly to clean it and to stop bleeding apply gauge for at least 10 minutes. Outside our mouth try using cold water to compress it.
- Any Object Caught between Teeth: In such situation try dental floss and if it fails don’t use sharp materials instead visit a dentist.
- Lost Filing: In this try to stick a piece of sugarless gum to tooth cavity or visit dentist.
- Lost Crown: This can be really painful and needs a dentist to treat. First you can use a cotton swab to the area with clove oil. If possible try to put it back by applying toothpaste or dental adhesive to end.
- Abscess: These are infections around the tooth which can result in severe problems like pimple like swelling.
Smoothing a chipped tooth, re-cementing a crown that is not causing pain and composite bonding to repair a tooth are not dental emergencies. Typically, such problems can be dealt with during the dentist’s regular office hours.
